Simon took up the newly created role of Director of Sport in September 2013, overseeing the development of all sports at both Brighton and Portslade Aldridge Community Academies with their sports teachers to increase opportunities for all students to get involved with sport whilst developing programmes to support gifted and talented players.

Simon had been involved in his previous role of Cricket Development Manager at Sussex County Cricket Club with the development of ACA and the appointment of Alexia Walker as the Director of Cricket. Simon holds an ECB Level 3 and an MSc in Coaching from Loughborough University. He has coached youth teams, in schools and universities in the UK and internationally.

“I feel passionately that sport can conquer many prejudices, bringing communities and people together. With a strong sporting background and a fantastic rise in academic standards the Aldridge Academies offer excellent opportunities to all. My aim is to get more students playing and enjoying sport, and for both schools to produce county, national and international players in a variety of sports.”
